I brought a borrowed handmade Renaissance Festival noblewoman’s gown in to be hand washed, because when it’s wet it’s too heavy for me, and I’ve been sweating in it for 3 years at the local Festival (super dusty!) with only a shake out between wears and some time in the sun to kill bacteria. I don’t think it was this clean when I wore it the first time 3 years ago, and I’m very pleased it’s so clean before it goes to the next wearer and is possibly in need of alterations. Sewing gritty garments is no fun!
This was also an incredibly reasonable price, given the estimates for wedding gowns (the closest we get to Ren Fest garb these days) at competitors, and that this is hand washed, not just thrown in a fancy machine! The hand washing expert here is truly a master at their craft, may they pass on their trade so we don’t ever lose this level of skill.
